The Shanghai International Urbanization & Architecture Expo (hereinafter referred to as the 'Urban Expo') is one of the key thematic events of World Cities Day. Co-organized by UN-Habitat, Shanghai Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Management Commission, China Urban Planning Society, and China Architectural Society, the expo has gradually become an international platform for promoting China's new urbanization achievements and showcasing the integrated development outcomes of the Yangtze River Delta since its inception in 2015. It serves as an experiential platform for Shanghai's urban construction and social governance, as well as a high-end platform fostering industry and enterprise collaboration.
The previous edition of the expo spanned 50,000 square meters of exhibition space, featuring nine thematic sections including 'World Cities Day', 'Smart Cities', 'Building Safety & Technology', 'Urban Public Spaces', 'Urban Regeneration & Green Materials', 'Ecological Conservation', and 'Urban Lifeline'. Concurrently held were the 'Integrated Infrastructure Development & Application in Yangtze River Delta' main forum and over 30 sub-forums, attracting industry professionals from all sectors.
As a flagship event under World Cities Day—the first international day initiated by China at the UN—the expo has become a fixed-brand activity aligned with Shanghai's goal of becoming a ** globally outstanding city**. It highlights domestic and international achievements in planning, construction, and management under the 'Shanghai Service, Shanghai制造, Shanghai Shopping, Shanghai Culture' brand, providing insights for enhancing economic growth, cultural quality, and urban governance while offering a high-end platform for industry collaboration.
